Claire Kang is a free-spirited Virgo and designer with major earth sign energy in her chart. Claire caught up with The Scope to chat about her thoughtful, curated approach to gift-giving, her love of calm, grounding colors, and being a meticulous Virgo that does everything with intention. What are your big 3 – Sun, Moon, and Rising signs?
My sun is in Virgo, moon in Sagittarius, and Capricorn rising. My mercury is also in Virgo.
What do you do for work? Does your sign play into your career at all?
I’m a brand designer at Nike (more specifically Nike sportswear, the lifestyle side of the Nike). I work on art direction, design, and shaping the visuals of the brand. I definitely think my Virgo side comes into play when I’m designing and problem-solving. I am meticulous and like to be intentional with everything I do, but I'm not afraid to experiment and get messy.
How, if at all, does astrology impact your daily life? Do you read your horoscope?
My Virgo side comes out for specific things - I can be really detail oriented and overly obsessive about one thing, yet loose and gestural with a wabi sabi attitude towards another thing. Virgos have that interesting duality. We are also very attuned to others' feelings and emotions. I know my entire team’s zodiac signs and am very good at guessing signs of new people I meet. It’s a great conversation starter.
I read Co-star often and indulge in lots of astrology memes. I find it fascinating how accurate some of the described attributes are. I am a Virgo and find myself surrounded by many other Virgos, which I love.
What's your favorite holiday? (Yes, your birthday counts as a holiday!)
I love the end of August to September because it’s Virgo season!
What’s the most memorable gift you’ve given recently? How are you approaching gift giving this holiday season?
I like to curate a personalized care package when giving gifts. The boxes usually consist of some self-care items like incense, bath soaks or perfume, and hand-thrown ceramics vessels made by me or some of my favorite artists. With the addition of other sentimental items that would be special to the person I’m gifting to.
If you could give someone one DOOZ piece, who would it be and what would you give them? Would you pick their sign?
I love the Céleste Bag, especially the Capricorn color way. The deep chartreuse color is soothing and grounding – a lovely representation of an earth sign. I’d give it to my friend Joyce who is a Pisces (water sign). It’s a perfect pairing of earth meets fluid water.

What were the holidays like for you growing up?
My favorite holiday is Chinese New Year in the beginning of February. I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan until I was 13, so Chinese New Year times are some of my fondest childhood memories. The gathering, food, sounds, smells and celebrations! Feeling sentimental now.
What foods remind you of home?
Soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, chamomile tea and taro pastries.

Having caffeine everyday, double step cleansing, excessive amount of peppermint herbal oil from Saje on my forehead.
Festive string lights or scented candles?
Definitely scented incenses & candles. There’s always some burning in my house at all times setting the vibes. Current favorites are the Hinoki CBD candle from yield design & wandering moss incense cone from Tennen.
Early bird or night owl?
I’m more of a night owl, although I do enjoy those quiet, peaceful early mornings.
Someone hands you the AUX at a party, what do you play?
It’s up to me by Chaos in the CBD, perfect amalgamation of spunky and therapeutic.
What’s your one beauty secret?
Not a secret, but reminder serum always comes before oil and moisturizer :)
How would you style your DOOZ pieces for a night out?
I’d wear my Virgo Bandana on the neck or on the wrist – or on my pup Arlo since he goes with me everywhere these WFH days!
If you were to select one color from the DOOZ celestial rainbow, what would your power color be and why?
Cancer Dark Teal. It’s soft, gentle and calming, but still holds it own as a color shade.
How do you unwind/decompress at the end of the day?
At night, I like to take some CBD, massage my face with cleansing oil, put on slow tempo soothing music (I have a favorite playlist called Emerald Pool) and burn some incense cones. I am also always using peppermint herbal oil on my temples and forehead (perhaps excessively I may add) for the calming uplifting effect
Any given day is incomplete without…?
Any day is incomplete without a nice cup coffee with lots of added spices or hot tea.
What are your favorite DOOZ pieces and why?
