Dooz is a luxury handbag brand that redefines the intersection of art, design, and sustainability. Founded by Rachel Borghard, the collection takes cues from architecture, fine art, and industrial design — distilled into sculptural silhouettes that blur the line between accessory and object. Each piece is handmade in New York City from Italian calfskin leather, suede, and bespoke hardware.
Founder
Rachel grew up as a fine artist with a deep interest in craft, a foundation that evolved into a multidisciplinary design practice. After earning a BFA in Fashion Design from Pratt Institute, she studied furniture design in Copenhagen, where she gained a deep understanding of Scandinavian design philosophy. Guided by an architectural sensibility and a distinct approach to color, her designs are both timeless and boldly expressive.
Heritage
Dooz is inspired by the French word “douze,” or twelve — a number that represents balance and wholeness. This nod to Rachel’s Belgian-French roots reflects her considered design approach, where every element has its place and each accessory feels thoughtfully complete.
